A Modern-Luxe Autumn Wedding with Hints of Pink: Evie & Eoghan

We are positively smitten with this stylish day!

Evie and Eoghan's romantic and modern real wedding was positively D.R.E.A.M.Y! With great food and music, excellent style, cocktails, and fun as their "must haves", they planned an uber-stylish love-filled party with loads of dancing. Brimming with a pretty pink palette and gorge details, we are totally smitten with their October Cabra Castle wedding day which is a lesson in how to do an autumn wedding without a traditional fall palette. Hello Sugar Photography captured all the details of their day and every snippet is a total vibe!

Today's couple are Evie and Eoghan who both hail from Lurgan in Co. Armagh. The pair met 6 years ago through a mutual friend. Evie says, "I text my friend around an hour or two after we met and said ‘I think I love him’ and the rest is history!".

The pair got engaged on Newcastle beach where their very first date happened. Evie fills us in on the romantic moment, "my daughter was with us and Eoghan had got her a little ring too! We don’t have a single photo of our engagement but I love that it’s just a memory the 3 of us will have forever." How sweet!

When it came to planning their day, the couple's priorities from the beginning were to "just have fun planning, make sure we don't get stressed out and just enjoy every second!"

Evie adds, "A big priority for us was music- we saved on things such as stationery, room decor, and photo booths etc. and instead put most of that budget into entertainment. We just wanted our friends and family to enjoy themselves and wanted it to feel like a massive party for everyone. We wanted to have lots of music throughout the day so had a singer/musician playing throughout. We booked the DJ, saxophone and bongos package with DJ and Sax which was probably highlight of the day- they were amazing."

The ceremony took place at St Peter’s Chapel in Lurgan where Evie surprised Eoghan by walking up the aisle to his favourite song. She says "We had The Bella Caves play during our ceremony who were unbelievable! I had chosen Eoghan’s favourite song Christy Moore's Nancy Spain to walk down the aisle to, which Eoghan didn’t know about. I remember standing at the back of the chapel ready to walk in and listening to the tune playing on the violins and thinking wow it’s actually happening!"

As another musical surprise, Evie requested The Bella Caves sing Justin Beiber's Anyone for the signing of the register. The bride laughs, "I didn’t tell Eoghan about that song choice either because he definitely wouldn’t have approved!"

The couple had so many sweet and special touches to their that made the day extra personal to them. Evie reminisces, "Sarah from Myrtle and Thorn added Daisies (my daughter’s name is Daisy) to my flowers which was the nicest surprise! We also named the cocktail for our drinks reception ‘The Daisy’ as another lovely personal touch. We hired a convertible mustang from Star Car Hire and despite the rain, we took the roof down driving off from the chapel with all our friends and family cheering and clapping us off."

The couple's reception took place at Cabra Castle in Co. Cavan which they say truly made their wedding magical. They provided delish appetizers, custom cocktails, great dining for guests, and the most friendly and helpful staff. Evie tells us what made the venue 'The One' for them. "We had been to a couple of weddings in Cabra Castle before and we always said that is where we would love to get married. The castle itself, the grounds, the food (people are still talking about the soup at our wedding). Everything is just amazing!"

She adds, "we looked at just one other venue, but knew it had to be Cabra Castle. The staff are also unbelievable. The day before our wedding when we were dropping all of our bits down our car broke down. Funny story now, but wasn’t at the time! The staff couldn’t have done enough for us, contacting a mechanic and even giving us a lift to the nearest town to help get us home. We truly can’t thank them enough for everything!"

Evie blew us away in her modern and romantic bridal look. She wore a silky, strappy gown by Sarah Seven which she sourced at Ivory and Pearl bridal boutique. Her dress featured a simple silhouette with a low back and a deep leg slit.

She finished her wedding day look with a dramatic soft ruffle-edged bridal coat by Varca Bridal which she found at The One by Sinead Corcoran.

We love her choice of bridal hair style - a slicked back bun which allowed her chic pearl earrings from A.B. Ellie to shine.

Evie's bouquet featured a romantic collection of blooms in various shades of pink and burgundy along with pops of green, white and a little 'something blue'.

Bridesmaids wore ankle-length neutral bridesmaids dresses from Karen Millen paired with bow heels from ASOS.

Eoghan and the lads kept it classic in sharp black tuxedos from Statement Menswear.

All the stationery for the day was designed by Evie's dad.

While the couples wedding took place in October, they didn't opt for typical Autumn colour palette. Evie says, "instead of oranges and browns I chose more neutral tones with hints of pinks and burgundy. I chose the colour burgundy for my flowers as it was my Grandad’s favourite colour. I still wanted cosy autumn vibes though, so had pumpkin spice candles burning on each table, and asked Cabra Castle to have the fires lit for our drinks reception. I got most of my inspiration off Pinterest and Instagram.

Their cake was a darling vintage-inspired creation with all-white icing and cherries on top.

Evie and Eoghan's first dance was to George Ezra's Pretty Shining People which was the first concert the couple went to together. Evie says "our first dance took us right back to that moment!".

As for words of wedded wisdom for others couples planning their day, Evie and Eoghan say, "Just enjoy the build up to your big day, have fun planning try not to stress! Try and be present and soak up every second of the day. It will be the best day of your life, don’t waste it being stressed over little things, being nervous or worrying about what might go wrong. Remember the important thing is you’re going to be married by the end of it all and that’s all that matters."

After their epic Cabra Castle wedding celebration the couple headed off to sunny Positano and Capri. "We went on honeymoon a few days after our wedding (we really needed those few days to recover/pack etc). We had the most amazing time, eating and drinking our way through the Amalfi coast. It is the most stunning place in the world, we would recommend it to anyone for a honeymoon."
