Wildest Dreams: Fiona and Anthony's Irish Castle Wedding

The ceremony music included songs from Dr Dre, Kanye West and Coolio!

Our real wedding couple, Fiona and Anthony, travelled from their home in San Francisco all the way home to Ireland to get married in a breathtaking Irish castle wedding venue! Velvet groomswear and a classic satin ballgown made up the wedding attire, while the florals were bursting with fresh, fluffy roses - which together created a classic look that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. Photographer Anna G Photography was there to capture the this enchanting day, so let us transport you to the fabulous Lough Rynn Castle in Co. Leitrim!

Fiona and Anthony, who hail from Co. Cavan and Co. Kildare first met through a friend in San Francisco, but really hit it off at a block party on St. Patrick’s Day in an Irish bar. Ater spending the whole time talking they were soon dating! For the proposal, they were on a trip to Joshua Tree, CA with their dog Gigi. "It was still pandemic times, so it was the perfect area to travel to as it’s really secluded. We pulled over to have lunch on this huge rock and climbed to the top. While we were taking in the view, Anthony dropped to one knee and asked the big question. I was shocked!" says Fiona.

Summing up the day, the couple describe the look of the day as classic style with some modern twists. Fiona and her lovely bridesmaids, who wore the lightest of sage green shades, really enjoyed the morning wedding preparations before the ceremony. The first glimpse we get of Fiona's bridal accessories is a sparkling diamond bracelet, and glistening drop earrings, framedd by the most picture-perfect Hollywood curls!

The spring wedding ceremony took place in the charming Lough Rynn Castle, and was styled with a floral moon-gate backdrop, bursting with an abundance of fresh eucalyptus. Instead of a floral ceremony arrangement, the couple chose a floral garland which was laid across the table kissed with fluffy pastel roses. We adore the simplicity of the aisle ends, made up of glass cylinder vases, and pillar candles and finished with more fresh greenery.

They share their favourite ceremony moments: "I think one of our favourite parts of planning the day was planning our wedding music. We had contemporary choices played on strings such as; California Love by Dr Dre, All of the Lights by Kanye West, Paradise by Coldplay, Wildest Love by Taylor Swift, Rocketman by Elton John, Dancing Queen by ABBA, Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio. I think my favourite piece would have to be a toss-up between Wildest Dreams as this was the piece that I walked down the aisle and Dancing Queen as this was the recessional piece and everyone was really happy, cheering and clapping, it was so much fun!"

The newlyweds, due to the pandemic and living abroad, unfortunately never got to see any venues in person when planning their dream castle wedding day. The luxury estate in Co. Leitrim stole their hearts and ultimately made their decision a very simple one. "We really loved the idea of having our wedding in a castle. When we viewed it virtually we loved the interior of the castle, it had so much character and the space Lough Rynn has allowed us to have space for all of our guests," they say.

The drinks reception really got the guests! "Our main wedding priority was ensuring all our friends and family were entertained from the minute they came to Lough Rynn Castle. We had fantastic musicians throughout the day and they really made it so memorable for everyone. We’re still talking about them!" they add.

I think we can all agree that the wedding style is simply sublime and utterly timeless! Fiona's bridal style is by designer Tara Keely by Lazaro and purchased from a bridal boutique in San Francisco. The off-the-shoulder satin-smooth ballgown gown had the dreamiest of A-line skirts. She paired it with a flowing veil a hand-tied bouquet comprising of more fresh eucalyptus and dusty-pink roses.

Anthony the groom sported a black velvet tuxedo jacket. He completed it with a matching velvet bowtie and satin lapels. To match the brides rose bouquet, he chose one simple pastel rose for his buttonhole. Perfection!

The wedding aesthetic that helped inspired the couple ahead of their idyllic Irish castle wedding day was no other but One Fab Day! Fiona adds "One Fab Day definitely helped, seeing so many real couples get married and then there are the millions of pinned images on Pinterest that really helped pin down the look that we wanted, as well as Instagram!"

The reception tables were enhanced with tall gold geometric stands and chic flower arrangements, and each table number was framed with an antique style frame. The room was lined with twinkling fairy lights and in the corner stood a drool-worthy iced wedding cake

As for invaluable wedding advice, Fiona and Anthony say: "I think it’s very easy to get carried away and think that you need to spend a lot to have a good day and to worry a lot about the small things. The main thing is you have the people you want there, they are there to celebrate your day with you and don’t care where it is, how much you have spent, or how many flowers or decorations you may have they are just happy to be with you so try not to stress about the little things. Think of the bigger picture - it’s a day to celebrate with friends and family. It’s very seldom to get all of your loved ones in one place."

When the day was over the newlyweds concluded their nuptials packed their bags for a well-deserved honeymoon. "We went to Greece, to Santorini and Mykonos. We had an amazing time. We would definitely recommend visiting Greece, the views were spectacular. The people, the food, and the atmosphere were amazing. Santorini for the scenic views and Mykonos for definitely more of a party atmosphere," they say.
