A Woodland Fairytale: Theo & Alexandra's Eco-Friendly Wedding

The sweetest summer fair feels in the great outdoors!

Today we bring you a real wedding that is drop dead gorgeous from Alexandra and Theo. This wedding is eco-friendly and recreates the joy of a rustic summer fair. From lush leafy surroundings and beautiful gardens to handmade signs and bunting, this marquee wedding was a woodland fairytale come to life. Alexandra and Theo chose to wed in Christ Church in Carrowdore of Scotland and hed their reception on the grounds of the bride's beautiful family home. The wonderful images were captured by Hello Sugar Photography and the results are enchanting. If you're looking for woodland wedding inspiration, read on!

There's no mistaking the look of love in Alexandra's radiant smile, so, we asked the couple how they first met.  Fate brought them together at university in Scotland while studying the same course. Alexandra tells us, "We both love climbing mountains and jumping in lakes, and there was no shortage of either."

The couple married in the same church as the bride's parents had 39 years earlier. They tell us their reception was, "a socially-distanced party with canapes and drinks, followed by tea, cake and speeches in a 19th-century pinetum, (a plantation of conifers); a woodland vibe with canvas marquees amongst some very tall conifers."

We adored Alexandra's sapphire ring that was chosen by her sister who created jewellery for the flower girl and a bracelet for the bride. So stunning.

The bride’s family home is situated in a small woodland that the couple, "knew from the beginning, would be the perfect location for our party." The flowers were arranged by the brides mother who is a wedding florist which was very special for them.

The incredible festival feeling that this couple created with their outdoor celebration was no mean feat to make everyone feels comfortable. They wanted a heated tent and we can see why; it's magnificent and very practical.

The food was very important to Alexandra and Theo, who tried to make the fare as sustainable as possible by reducing the carbon footprint on the menu. "Seasonal, local food and drink is very important to us and our caterers at the Edible Flower really knew what we were looking for in this respect. We also used compostable plates and bowls, and sourced what drinks we could locally, including our own elderflower cordial."

Alexandra's shoes from Russel and Bromley are ones that need their own special mention as they made a most stylish addition as her something blue. The couple's advice for those planning a wedding is, "Don’t panic! It all comes together on the day. Once the morning of the big day comes, neither of you will have to worry about anything."

We're big fans of Alexandra's dress with a beautiful lace overlay which is by Seraphim Bridal, it truly is a piece with timeless appeal that we can see taking its place as a future heirloom within her family.

A huge thank you to Alexandra and Theo for sharing their magical woodland eco-friendly wedding day with us. Of course we can't forget about these amazing photos shot by Hello Sugar Photography. There are more sweet images for you to look at in the gallery below. Happy wedding planning!
