Kim and Kanye chose Laois' lavish five-star hotel at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains for their honeymoon, so Ballyfin very much has the A-list seal of approval. The recently refurbished two-storey Gardener's Cottage, while not in the main Recency mansion, is like holidaying in a Bronte novel. Nestled in a corner of the walled garden, a stone's throw from the main house, calling it a cottage belies its extravagance. Inside there's a spacious living room, and a bathroom with a free-standing copper tub. However, the feature that's the clincher for us is balcony off the main bedroom with a stairway that leads to a hot tub on a private terrace, with beautiful views of the gardens and mountains.

Luttrellstown Castle
With an air of historic grandeur and elegance, Luttrellstown Castle oozes character, and though just 20 minutes from Dublin's City centre, it feels like a world away. The Aileen Plunkett Room was the original bedroom of the castle's former owner, whose father was a member of the famous Guinness family, and boasts a delightful bathroom with a copper stand-alone tub, and of course we just love a four-poster bed for those princess vibes!
