Enchantment, Privacy, Luxury: Weddings at Rathsallagh House

A hidden gem for weddings big and small

We're spoiled for choice in Ireland when it comes to country house wedding venues, but the relaxed and romantic spot we're talking about today is completely unique. Tucked away in a tranquil part of Co. Wicklow that's a little off the beaten track but still easy to reach, Rathsallagh House is a plush hideaway that will be exclusive to you and your guests on your big day. Suited to weddings of all sizes, from intimate parties of 50, all the way up to huge celebrations of 250 guests, Rathsallagh is an instantly charming place with historic gardens and cosy interiors, so their real weddings are never far from our minds - Niamh and Owen's wedding and Abbey and Robbie's bash are recent favourites. To get the full effect, you've got to view the venue for yourself, but in the meantime, we've rounded up a few highlights...

The Space at Rathsallagh House

Boasting 300-year-old walled gardens and parklands, open log and turf fires, a luxurious dining room, gorgeous bedrooms and welcoming drawing rooms, Rathsallagh House is the kind of place we'd all love to call home, but celebrating your big day there is the next best thing! Weddings at Rathsallagh are very much tailored to the couple and their guests. Your ceremony can be held in one of the nearby churches, the walled garden, or the Granary civil ceremony room, and there are just as many options for your drinks reception - you and your guests can soak up the excitement of the day in the main house or, weather permitting, on the lawn or in the walled garden. For dinner and dancing, your backdrop will either be Rathsallagh’s elegant dining room (up to 120 guests) or the bright and airy Pavilion (up to 250 guests) - either way, you're guaranteed a magical evening! The venue's pre-wedding preparation room is a big hit with brides, too. Featuring hair and makeup stations, a top-of-the-line sound system, Nespresso machines, and a private entrance to the walled garden, where couples can have their first look in complete privacy, it's an ideal space for getting ready with your wedding party!

The Vibe at Rathsallagh House Weddings

Located an hour from Dublin city and airport, and just 20 minutes from Naas, Newbridge, Kildare and Carlow, Rathsallagh House is the kind of venue that your guests will thank you for booking - wherever they're travelling from, their journey will be relatively stress-free. The family who run Rathsallagh have 30 years of experience in hosting weddings, so they really know how to throw a party, and their attention to detail has earned them countless awards. Intimate weddings are given just as much care and attention as epic bashes - the venue even provide candles and garden flower arrangements at no extra charge, giving you one less thing to worry about! Above all, Rathsallagh is the kind of place where you start to relax the moment you set foot on the 270-acre estate, and isn't that what every couple wants from their big day?!

The Food at Rathsallagh House Weddings

Food is a pretty big deal at Rathsallagh House, where the award-winning, in-house catering team do everything in their power to make your five-course wedding feast a memorable one. The cuisine is unmistakably Irish, but bearing a few French, Asian and Middle Eastern influences. Whatever dishes you choose for your bespoke wedding menu, you can be sure that the kitchen team will use only the best ingredients and include lots of local produce (Duncannon salmon, Glasson Farm beef and Doyle's black pudding, to name but three) as well as herbs and vegetables grown in their own gardens. One of the best things about the wedding feast at Rathsallagh House is that you can do it all over again on Day Two, when the team will be happy to prepare a gourmet BBQ for you and your guests!
