Ceremony Reading: Quote from The Holiday

Short, sweet and perfect for a Christmas wedding!

We've been having a lot of fun lately searching for festive wedding ceremony readings, and this one is just perfect for a winter wedding, although, you could argue that it works equally well any day of the year! A quote from festive favourite The Holiday, written by the fabulous Nancy Meyers, it's a great choice for rom com fans, but it's also profound enough to move even the most cynical of wedding guests! It's nice and short, so it's a good option if you're having a short ceremony, or a Prayers of the Faithful-style series of shorter readings, which are becoming really popular these days. Oh, and in case you need reminding, it's spoken by Kate Winslet's character, Iris, at the very beginning of the film.

Wedding Ceremony Reading: Quote from The Holiday

"I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said 'Journeys end in lovers meeting.' What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives."
